Our Journey to Launching The Bjorndals

I’m going to be real with you: this took forever to actually get started.

The idea for a blog started back in 2016, when we thought it would be cool to tell people about how we go out to dinner all the time to nice restaurants without breaking the bank. As we brainstormed more about that blog idea, we realized that we have a passion NOT just for hearing ourselves talk (lol…I mean if you know us…) but also for budgeting thoughtfully and sharing our process with others. We feel so strongly about the way carefully manage our finances, and we believed that many others could benefit from it!

Over time, the idea just kind of sat there. We both talked a lot about wanting to start the blog, but neither of us ever made the first move to actually do it. In early 2018, I was really determined to make it the YEAR OF THE BLOG. We planned to work on the site together on a trip to Florida in the winter and even took a bunch of selfies (they are actually hilarious) in preparation to launch this baby. And then we bought our first home.

Somehow, there was always something that took up our time and energy instead of the Bjorndal Blog. So at the end of 2018, I made it a top goal of 2019 to make this happen. I planned deadlines and vacation time from regular work to get the website set up so we could get things moving. Of course, something came up: unexpected water damaged-turned-kitchen renovation, obvi. But I wasn’t falling for it this time!

With a renewed passion and excitement not just sharing our thoughts, but for making an impact, we put other priorities on hold to make this dream a reality. We agreed that it was worth the investment. We spent our free time writing blog posts and designing web pages. We both got really frustrated when we couldn’t figure out the web design application. And then: A BLOG WAS BORN.

Hello world, it’s nice to meet ya!
